Taking a tour at Croagh Patrick Seafoods is very different from most commercial guided tours. This is a very personal experience led by Padraic Gannon who tells the story of his family, the local area he is so proud of and the award winning oysters he farms. Standard Tours and Gourmet Tours are both available.

Padraic brings select groups along the shoreline so they can see and experience how oyster growing operates. With enthusiasm and expertise, he draws listeners into his world – and the world of this prized and celebrated shellfish.

Oyster Farm

Each tour concludes with an oyster shucking (opening) demonstration and a chance to taste the delicious, salty flesh. They’ve long been famed as an aphrodisiac but it’ll be up to you to decide whether or not that’s true! The Oyster Farm Gourmet Tour includes a buffet brunch with a variety of seafood and home baking as well as oysters of course.

Tours last between 60 and 90 minutes and involve a walk along the shoreline. Tours take place every Wednesday and Saturday at 12 noon from July to September. Pre booking is essential.

School Tours

Croagh Patrick Seafoods offer a special tour specifically targeted at schools and educational bodies. Groups can be accommodated and coach parking is provided.

Educational tours link naturally with the curriculum in several areas – biology, geography, history and even domestic science. Teachers find that students respond very positively to seeing the oyster farm in operation and understand how it connects to the environment and into the wider business community.

Ideal for:
– transition year students
– primary school tours
– third level aquaculture students

School tours must be booked in advance. Please contact Mary Clarke on 087 6058049.
